About Gloria

Gloria Johnson spent 27 years as a special education teacher before deciding she could no longer sit on the sidelines as Tennessee lawmakers attacked public education and stripped teachers of their voice in government.

When the legislature took away educators' seat at the table, Gloria ran for the Tennessee House of Representatives in Knoxville and she's been fighting for students, teachers, and working families ever since.

Following the tragic Covenant School shooting in Nashville, Gloria became a leading advocate for commonsense gun safety legislation.

As one of the nationally recognized "Tennessee Three," she joined fellow lawmakers in demanding action to address gun violence, survived a politically motivated expulsion effort, and helped spark a movement that continues to mobilize Tennesseans across the state.

Today, Gloria brings that same passion, candor, and determination to Standing Tall, where she pulls back the curtain on politics, asks tough questions, and engages in meaningful conversations about the future of Tennessee and the nation.

Through insightful guests and honest dialogue, the podcast seeks to educate listeners, challenge assumptions, and remind us that lasting change is possible when people stay informed and engaged.
